Job Description A great opportunity exists for an experienced DZ TRUCK DRIVER to support our team and ensure our fleet service standards are met. Working in a team environment all job duties support the collection and recycling of batteries, and hazardous waste, preparing/packaging of material for shipment, and loading/ unloading materials.
Position Responsibilities Operate one or more vehicle types with both automatic and standard transmissions and collect solid waste, yard waste and/or recyclables on a collection route. Route may vary daily based on service needs Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety lane inspections and reports, daily truck report, route sheets and other documentation requested by the supervisor daily Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to mechanic and supervisor immediately. Operate truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures. Follow safety standards, equipment checks and precautions in performance of all duties. Comply with all national, provincial, local and rules on safety and vehicle operation. Maintain a clean vehicle by cleaning cab interior and exterior of vehicle. Attend daily safety meetings as per site requirements.
Qualifications and Experience Valid class DZ drivers’ license (required) 2+ years of commercial driving experience Clear driver’s abstract Experience working in safety regulated environments Ensure safety is a priority Excellent interpersonal, service skills and ability to develop effective working relationships Strong commitment to excellence, accuracy, and attention to detail Exceptional time-management skills Demonstrated flexibility in adapting to a wide variety of tasks and functions Ability to wear protective equipment (metatarsal work boots, ear/eye protection, hard hat, safety vest/gloves) Prioritizations skills with the ability to adapt to change Ability to work in demanding environments (noise, dust, contamination)

The Equipment Operator Training Programis a full-time training program for up to 11-weeks. Participants will be supported in conducting occupational and industry research, develop individual training plans, and make informed decisions. This no cost training includes Class 3 drivers training with the manual transmission component, industry required safety certification and the opportunity to train for either vacuum truck or water truck operations at the SATO Canada training facility.

DZ Driver – Skilled Trades and Tech Driver and Program Facilitator
(35-40 HOURS/WEEK)

The successful candidate will drive the mobile classroom across the province as it travels from school to school reaching
communities from Windsor to Cornwall to Thunder Bay. However, while possessing a DZ driver’s license is an essential
qualification, this is not purely a driving position. The driver will also help with set up of the vehicle and delivering the
program.
The Trades and Tech Mobile Classroom is a custom 2022 Freightliner M2-106, equipped with hydraulic slide outs, giving us
approximately 470 square feet of experiential learning space. This “classroom” is loaded with skilled trades equipment and
trainers for use by students in elementary and high school.
Skills Ontario is looking for a candidate who is willing to not just drive but also engage with students and be a part of our
team, working to ignite a passion for the Skilled Tech and Trades sectors in youth across the province.
The incumbent will be responsible for set up and take down of the mobile classroom (including operation of generators,
slide outs, set up of stairs and wheelchair lift), fueling and cleaning the truck, as well as maintaining ELD logbook records
and vehicle maintenance records.
Breakdown of duties:
• Driving – 25% of time
• Working at home or on site at a school/event delivering Skills Ontario programming – 75% of time
Successful candidates will:
• Have a DZ license
• Have a clean driving record
• At least 2 years driving experience
• Be passionate about or have experience in the Skilled Tech and Trades sectors
• Be able to help set up of equipment
• Experience working with youth would be an asset
• Fluency in French will be considered an asset
• Be willing to be away from home
