Training Strategies of Global Truck Academy

  • Targeted Knowledge

We do not complicate our students lives by attempting to teach knowledge they do not need to pass their tests. Any knowledge that can be imparted through on-the-job training is made secondary in favor of concentrating on the knowledge students need to have now. We call this information ‘targeted knowledge’.

  • Fast-Paced and Concentrated

It has been our experience that long, drawn-out classes make it difficult for students to retain information. Therefore, we utilize a fast-paced and concentrated training approach that gives our students the information they need in short, concentrated bursts. This results in greater retention and better recall for most students.

  • Ongoing Support

All of our instructors are experienced professionals who have spent time on the road themselves. Our instructors are constantly on hand to answer questions, provide additional explanations or offer any extra help a student might need to complete a given module. They are aided by support staff wholly dedicated to the success of each student.

Isabelle Fournier – Director

Isabelle is a dynamic Recruitment, Retention and Marketing Specialist with a passion for motivating, attracting, and retaining women in the transport and heavy-duty mechanic industry. With a focus on diversity and inclusion, Isabelle has spearheaded numerous initiatives that challenge industry norms and pave the way for a more balanced workforce.
A key highlight of Isabelle’s career has been the development and execution of a groundbreaking 100% all-women trucking class in collaboration with the CFTR in Québec. This innovative project not only provided comprehensive training for female truckers but also created a supportive community that encourages growth and camaraderie among women in the industry.
In an effort to raise awareness and inspire more women to join the transport sector, Isabelle launched the Pink Tanker campaign which was also supported by CFTR’s Pink Truck. These eye-catching vehicles were designed to make a bold statement and highlight the significant role women play in trucking. The campaigns garnered widespread attention and sparked important conversations about gender diversity within the industry.
Beyond these projects, Isabelle is an active participant in industry podcasts, where they share insights and experiences to inspire others. She also frequently organizes and invites students to explore the transport sector, showcasing the vast opportunities available and emphasizing the importance of gender parity.
With a vision for the next generation of truckers to be at least 50% women, Isabelle is dedicated to breaking barriers and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Her commitment and innovative approach continue to make a significant impact on the industry, driving it towards a more equitable future.

Parkland Powering What Moves People

Parkland is an international fuel distributor, marketer, and convenience retailer with operations in 26 countries across the Americas. We serve over one million customers each day. Our retail network meets the fuel and convenience needs of everyday consumers. Our commercial operations provide businesses with industrial fuels so that they can better serve their customers. In addition to meeting our customers’ needs for essential fuels, we provide a range of choices to help them lower their environmental impact. These include renewable fuels sourcing, manufacturing and blending, carbon and renewables trading, solar power, and ultra-fast EV charging. With approximately 4,000 retail and commercial locations across Canada, the United States and the Caribbean region, we have developed supply, distribution and trading capabilities to accelerate growth and business performance.

Our strategy is focused on two pillars: our Customer Advantage and our Supply Advantage. Through our Customer Advantage, we aim to be the first choice of our customers, cultivating their loyalty through proprietary brands, differentiated offers, our extensive network, competitive pricing, reliable service, and our compelling loyalty program. Our Supply Advantage is based on achieving the lowest cost to serve among independent fuel marketers and distributors in the hard-to-serve markets in which we operate, through our well-positioned assets, significant scale, and deep supply and logistics capabilities. Our business is underpinned by our people and our values of safety, integrity, community and respect, which are deeply embedded across our organization.
